4 generations of a family cast vote

4 generations of a family cast vote
Kanpur: Though voting percentage once again remained low and below expectation, there were families, sick people, old-aged men and women who came out to vote despite all odds. One such family that voted enthusiastically was Srivastava family. Right from people aged 101 to those aged 22, all in the family voted. Interestingly, the four generations of this family voted on different issues.
1x1 polls

The oldest in the family to vote is Nand Kumari Sinha. “This time I did not had to travel to the polling station. Instead, I cast my vote through postal ballot. Some people from the EC came to my house and helped me cast my vote. So all thanks to them,” Nand said. Nand’s daughter Sudha and son-in-law RN Srivastava arrived at VSSD degree college to cast vote. 79-year-old Sudha and 84 year old Rajendra Nath Srivastava were enthusiastic to vote. They were escorted by their son Prateek to the polling station. The two were happy to witness arrangement of wheelchair. They comfortably cast their vote and got inked.
Sudha and Rajendra Nath in unison said that that they voted for better facilities for senior citizens. “I went inside the polling booth on a wheelchair. Earlier, there were no such facilities. But as the times are changing, in the same way, the Election Commission is upgrading and advancing itself, thereby adding to the existing infrastructure and facilities,” Sudha and Rajendra told TOI.
Their son Prateek and his wife Madhu were happy to witness that four generations voted. “When the head of the family, our maternal grandmother is eager to cast vote, we as her children become obligated to do so and not to miss the opportunity. My wife and I voted for a government which we are confident will create jobs and improve present education system.”
